From one person and a handful of tools, Ginter Services grew to include multiple crews, service vehicles, a dedicated production manager, and a commercial office and workshop. Today, Ginter Services is a full-service construction and remodeling company equipped to handle projects of all sizes—far beyond its humble beginnings as a small handyman business.

Before entering the construction industry, Chad served eight years on active duty in the United States Coast Guard. While stationed in California, he began teaching himself home improvement and remodeling by renovating his condominium.

After completing his Coast Guard service, Chad moved to Yorktown and joined the Newport News Fire Department. He continued developing his construction skills while renovating his new home and eventually founded Ginter Services as a side business using the tools he already owned.

What began with yardwork, handyman projects, and debris removal quickly grew through strong customer demand and word-of-mouth referrals. Eventually, the business became busy enough for Chad to leave the fire department and pursue it full time.

From an early age, Chad dreamed of becoming a firefighter. He also grew up surrounded by skilled tradespeople. His grandfather built custom furniture and completed additions to his own home, while his father worked as an electrician and was a talented handyman. Their abilities sparked Chad’s interest in construction, even though he did not have the opportunity to learn those skills firsthand.

Chad also volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, where he found the inspiration to start Helping Hand Construction, a nonprofit construction company with a mission to provide critical home repairs and modifications for those in need. Visit to learn more.
